This was a piece that explores a number of ideas that interest me in composition. The first is taking the familiar and making it unfamiliar: imposing and juxtaposing odd number rhythms against even numbers creating an element of unpredictability and imbalance.  This works across time signatures and elastic rhythmic cells, which expand and contract.  The second idea is of visceral music that makes a mark on the listener immediately. It is music that is devoid of any intellectual, academic, political or socio-economic notions; it only exists to pummel or lull the listener into submission.
