A Mathematician’s apology is an essay by the great British Mathematician G.H Hardy. In it Hardy discusses the beauty of numbers and patterns particularly in reference to applied mathematics.  The piece I have composed around this idea applies constant patterns which battle against each other for supremacy, beauty and an answer. It's compositional form is influenced by progressive and trash metal song structures.
