We’re All Mad Here, by Gráinne O Carroll, is an immersive performance depicting a transformational journey from darkness to light, interweaving physical theatre, dance, original costume design and musical composition. The project sprung from Gráinne's graduate showcase in 2016 at the National College of Art and Design ,Dublin and has since has evolved numerous limbs which reach into realms of gallery exhibition, film festival installation, and performance. Gráinne has brought many international artists together in collaboration, most recently/namely for the 2017 Dublin Fringe Festival, for which I created an original score of music.
Employing piano, prepared piano, tribal drums, violin, percussion, electronics and vocals the score includes improvisation and strict repetitive ideas to help the audience enter into the realms of panic, bliss, uncertainty and tenderness as the veil of darkness reveals the protagonist in plain sight./help the audience enter into the realms of panic, bliss, uncertainty and tenderness as the protagonist transforms along the path to enlightenment/struggles along the path of enlightenment. Gráinne has stated: “We're All Mad Here has been in constant progression from gallery installation, to film, to performance. Versatility and openness is fundamental to my practice and therefore embedded in the message I want to transmit.” The score seeks to reflect the versatility of the show whilst also retaining musical continuity
The performers in the video include Grainne O’Carroll, Melissa Haury and Lorenzo Massa.
